St. Nicholas Church
Our beautiful church building is a popular destination for many, and we have worked hard recently to ensure that we can offer visiting times that are as flexible as possible for those who wish to visit. Our current opening hours for visiting are as follows:
During the spring and summer months
St. Nicholas Church will be open during daylight hours,
every day of the week.
Please note - as St. Nicholas is a regular place of worship, and we hold services every 2 weeks on a Sunday morning, please check our service schedule if you are planning to visit over a weekend.

Barfrestone is a small village with a population of 60, situated at the northern boundary of the Bewsborough Parish.
There are many visitors to the church, which is open throughout the daylight hours. Ministry to visitors is an important part of the church’s mission.
A small, but faithful congregation, attends the regular 9.00am Sunday service using the Book of Common Prayer. The traditional style of worship attracts people from outside the Parish. St Nicholas Day Evensong and Compline services during Holy Week form part of the programme of joint Parish services. Harvest Thanksgiving and Remembrance Sunday services are supported by the local community.
The church is well maintained, and conservation work on the unique stonework and carving was completed in June 2019.
