A Warm Hello....
Bewsborough is an active Church of England single parish benefice in rural Kent (sitting on the outskirts of Dover, and around 4.5 miles from the seafront, depending upon where you are standing in the Parish at the time!)
Although the Parish name of Bewsborough doesn't mean a great deal to those living in the Parish, it is the name of the ancient ‘hundred’ which included most of the original five parishes, and so has particular local significance.
There are 6 churches in the Parish:
St. Andrew, Shepherdswell
St. Martin of Tours, Guston
St. Nicholas, Barfrestone
St. Pancras, Coldred
St Peter, Whitfield
St. Peter & Paul, Eythorne & Elvington with Waldershare
Each of our worshipping communities actively serve their local villages and wider communities. And, whilst each church may have aspirations particular to their own circumstances, and is unique in its worship, the Parish as whole has a shared vision of mission with the local communities in which they are located.
We are very active in each of our local communities working alongside other agencies as well as running our own projects as an expression of the love of God in a practical way.
Much of our activity happens on a Sunday, but that's not all that goes on! We are involved in Messy Church, coffee mornings, local outreach and there are many opportunities for fellowship, Bible study, prayer and friendship. As a Parish we understand that at heart, the Gospel is a message of relationship, relationship with God, and relationships with one another; and so we continually look for ways to reach out and meet with our local communities.
Our teaching is grounded in the Bible; we love liturgy, the sacraments and music in our worship. It is our aim that all we do is genuinely relevant to the time we are in now, and ensure that faith is offered and presented as something alive and relevant today; and that anyone who comes along will quickly feel part of a caring family and encounter something of the transforming love of Jesus Christ in our midst.
